Maker Faire Experience
Sunday, May 22, 2011 at 10:54PM We attended our first Maker Faire this weekend - what a blast! Still trying to absorb the incredible array of innovation and creativity going on at the grassroots level.
The Maker Faire is part arts and crafts show, part science fair, mixed with a little insanity. We had a great time learning about what people are doing and how they are doing it.
On the photography front, we found a great vendor selling their own design of camera straps that are a signficant improvement over the torture device most DSLRs ship with. Custom SLR designed a Glide strap / C loop combo that makes for a convenient and comfortable design. It’s an over the shoulder design with a soft stretchy split shoulder pad and a very well designed attachment to screw into your tripod mount. I purchased a strap about halfway through the day and gave my aching shoulders some relief.
Here are a few shots from the day. There was a lot more to see, but photographing the event was tough due to the sheer number of people in attendance.
